A backpack made with fabric that is hand woven by the Hmong tribe in Thailand. This piece channels the true nomadic, free-spirited essence of that bohemian style we love, expressing it’s uniqueness and beautiful artistry.
That’s the fashion. Now for the ethical bit…
You are supporting fair trade and safe working conditions to women of the Hmong tribe in Thailand. Our artisan partner consists of a group of over 100 women in the Northern Thailand area who believe in preserving the Hmong culture, sustainability and fair trade. Who are the Hmong? They are an Asian ethnic group from the mountain regions of China, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. Originally from southern China, the Hmong gradually migrated south during the 18th century due to political unrest and to find more workable land. Today, many Hmong are located in the northern Thai regions and are well integrated into Thai society. They are rich in culture, family and art and are distinctive in their fabric patterns and vibrant costumes.
